from Gethat Magazine,
September Issue 2005Lim Jin Ying, an accountant with
three children, Bernice, 5, Ethan, 3, and 9-months old Emmanuel,
became convinced of its (Active Manuka Honey) healing properties
when it cleared up the spots on Bernice’s neck and elbows that
were affected by eczema. Eczema is a common inflammatory disease
of the skin which causes itching, and is characterised by skin
that is dry, red and scaly. Moreover, it is unsightly and Jin
Ying had tried various remedies without success.
However, things changed when curiosity promoted her to find out
more about Manuka Honey after coming across a banner about it
along East Coast Road, outside of Winmark Trading Pte Ltd, which
distributes the Mossop’s range of honey from New Zealand.
Winmark’s proprietor Eileen Koh had then recommended her to try
treating Bernice’s skin with Active Manuka Honey as it contains
antibacterial agents which can inhibit the growth of bacteria
that causes eczema.
Jin Ying went home that day with some Active Manuka products and
began dabbing it on Bernice’s spots every night. “I know it
might sound incredulous to some, but within a fortnight I
noticed that the affected spots were slowly diminishing,” she
says. “Nowadays, Bernice’s skin looks perfectly well.”
Meanwhile, Jin Ying is now a firm believer in the benefits of
Manuka honey: “Besides dabbing the honey directly onto my
daughter’s eczema spots, I also give my children a teaspoon of
it to consume as it definitely helps in maintaining good health
for them. The best part is that my kids love the strong honey
taste.”
